ABOUT ROB SMITH

When I was a young lad (around 8), I helped my dad with an office move which involved moving IT equipment around and plugging it all back in. So, as you can see, I was destined from an early age to work in the tech industry. Since then, I have had a number of roles working for smaller organisations which have offered me the tremendous opportunity to think and work holistically, work autonomously and excel in a number of areas and help drive company growth. I have also had some great opportunities to work with large organisations to aid in highly complex tech transformational projects. I have already achieved and learnt a lot in my career. I wouldn’t have achieved what I have without working with and building strong teams! Here are some of my key learnings so far:• People are fantastic! I have found that I get tremendous satisfaction in supporting, coaching, nurturing, and developing fantastic people and seeing their careers blossom • The tech industry is awesome! I appreciate I may be biased here, but the tech industry provides a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of development that helps tackle real word problems. There is always emerging tech, there is always more to learn…. There is always an opportunity to GROW!• You often hear the term \'growth mindset\'. But what this means for me is that I am passionate about learning and growing… I focus on trying to ensure that every day I am pursuing mastery, honing my skills and learning! This is everything from audiobooks on leadership and strategy to learning about new technology. This has been amplified by becoming a father, I am now ever more focused on being the best I can be and being in a position to help, support and nurture my children to offer them the best in life.• I love data…. Making decisions is tough, making the right decisions is even more so… I love to use data to AID in that decision-making process. It really helps make informed decisions to achieve the desired outcomes. I am a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist (yep, a proud MAMIL). I have completed a number of full-distance marathons and an 81-mile triathlon from Windsor Castle to Brighton. I continue to push myself to achieve more and am also keen to raise money for good causes in the process!
