About Bob Harvey
For 11 years (until December 2023), I served as President & CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership. The Partnership is the principal business organization serving the 12-county greater Houston area.Prior to joining the Partnership in 2012, I had a career in strategic and organizational consulting (17 years with McKinsey) and in senior management (6 years as Vice Chair/EVP with Reliant Energy). In my time with McKinsey, I primarily served energy clients, both across North America and abroad, with a focus on electric utilities, natural gas pipelines and distributors, and integrated oil companies (primarily in their upstream oil and gas operations). At Reliant, I helped launch the company\'s competitive retail power business in ERCOT and oversaw retail electricity marketing and electric power generation in competitive markets nationwide; wholesale power and gas origination and trading; and the company\'s European power generation and trading venture. In addition to the corporate management roles, I have served on for-profit and non-profit boards. From 20••••15, I served on the board of TRC Companies, Inc.(NYSE: TRR), which included several years as Lead Director. TRC provides engineering, consulting, and construction management services to the energy, environmental, and infrastructure segments. I have also served on the boards of two funds sponsored by US Capital Advisors. With respect to non-profits, I currently serve on the following boards: Greater Houston Community Foundation, Good Reason Houston (public education reform), Greentown Labs (climate tech accelerator), and TEX-E (university-focused climate entrepreneurship). I also serve on the Advisory Board of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University and the Chancellor’s Century Council at Texas A&M. I am an emeritus trustee and former chair of the United Way of Greater Houston and the Post Oak School.I have previously served on the boards of St. John\'s School; Houston Technology Center; Houston Exponential; Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau; Houston Hospitality Alliance; Texas A&M Foundation; Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University: Houston Zoo, Inc; Central Houston, Inc; Center for Houston’s Future; and Concordia Theological Seminary (Ft. Wayne, IN). Specialties: Strategic planning, executive leadership, board governance.
