Experience

My latest book, co-edited with my colleague, Todd Olszewski, examines Democratic and Republican views on important health policy issues. This reference text fills an important void in the literature by providing a factual, impartial analysis of party positions on a wide range variety of health policy issues from abortion to veteran’s health care. Our project included more than a dozen Providence College undergraduates as co-authors for various chapters. The intended audience for this volume includes community and secondary school libraries and colleges and university reference collections. For more details, see the article about our collaborative work with students in the Fall 2019 issue of Providence College Magazine: https://news.providence.edu/hpm-students-co-author-book-on-major-healthcare-decisionsMy research and writing interests are broad and varied in the areas of health care reform, popular culture, and medical humanities. I co-authored an article with three of my students (Victoria Grasso, Madeline LaRochelle, and Katie Seaver) on \"Rethinking the Shortage of Primary Care Physicians\" published in the May 2018 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. In 2018, I was invited to serve as the guest editor for a special issue on the physician assistant profession for the Rhode Island Medical Journal. My introductory article, along with four other articles on the role of PAs in Rhode Island\'s health care system, appeared in the August 2018 issue.
