ABOUT ROBERT ENEVER
Head of Science & Uptake for Fishtek Marine. I work closely with the fishing industry to resolve bycatch issues through the use of technology. As an ex-government scientist who has spent extensive time (10 years) working at sea with fishermen, I consider myself uniquely positioned to be able to consider technology from the industry perspective and offer a level of pragmatism regarding effective implementation and uptake of technologies and ideas. My current role at Fishtek Marine is to ensure Fishtek\'s products are 1) fit for purpose, 2) product effectiveness is underpinned by a strong evidence base and 3) products are offered as an effective solution to our stakeholders. To that end, I work across stakeholders from the fishing industry, academia, government, and eNGOs to facilitate positive conservation outcomes in fisheries globally. Previously, I have been responsible for ensuring the objectivity, quality and transparency of the marine evidence used for designating, and subsequently managing, Marine Protected Areas and informing EU and UK policy on discards in marine fisheries. I am a member of the International Whaling Commission’s Bycatch Expert Panel.
