Denver, CO, US

Since founding Paterson & Cooke in South Africa in 1991, I have been privileged to enjoy several leadership roles within the company. In 2007, I moved to Denver to start Paterson & Cooke’s North American operations. From 2016, with the formalization of Paterson & Cooke’s Employee Share Plan, in addition to various director positions and the President of Paterson & Cooke North America, I chaired Paterson & Cooke’s main board based in the United Kingdom. At the end of 2024, I resigned all formal company positions in anticipation of my retirement from full-time employment with Paterson & Cooke on 31 March 2025.I am currently, and will continue to be post my retirement, engaged as a consultant supporting primarily tailings and slurry pipeline projects.I will also continue with key industry projects; these include chairing the Technical Work Group of BHP and Rio Tinto’s Tailings Management Consortium, serving on the Quellaveco Tailings Review Panel, and teaching the GIW slurry course. My passion and energy for supporting the development and implementation of safer tailings management systems and effective slurry transport systems has not dimmed. I am interested in supporting projects in these areas, particularly technical and investment reviews, tailings review boards, teaching assignments, and the development of the next generation of engineers.
