About Robert Shields 史儒宝
My career in education began by working in the gaps; filling roles that were critical to students\' development but often ignored. At two different universities I worked in career planning, academic advising, and teaching. While these experiences were incredibly positive, I wanted to reach students at an earlier stage and hence I transitioned to secondary education. In August 2025, I joined Trinity Episcopal School (TES) as an IB Geography, TOK, and grade 10 English teacher. So many things make Trinity unique, things I’ve seen first-hand, but the positivity and shared values of the community are special and our graduates go on to impact communities at home and afar. Prior to relocating back to the USA, I’d spent significant time in China. From 20••••25, I worked at Qibao Dwight high school in Shanghai. While I began as a College Counselor and Teacher, in 2022 I was promoted to American Principal where I oversaw all aspects of Curriculum and College Counseling; managed 40 international faculty, including budget, hiring, retention, conflict resolution and PD; oversaw all accreditation matters for WASC, IB, and Cambridge; and engaged the other Dwight campuses in global initiatives. Prior to assuming this role I served as the International Director of College Counseling, an IBDP Business Management and Theory of Knowledge Teacher, and Head Boy\'s Basketball Coach. Additionally, I taught pre-IB Economics and co-authored our school\'s WASC school profile. Before joining Qibao Dwight, I spent six years at Johns Hopkins University\'s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) where I was the first career counselor at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China. In this role, I managed Hopkins\' employer relationships in Asia, established infrastructure for career counseling for Chinese and non-Chinese nationals, and helped launch a scholarship fund to support students on internship. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my son, riding bikes, and sailing.
