ABOUT ROBERTA GIORDANO
Born and raised in Rome, Italy, she has spent most of her life working as a grass root organizer in the fields of social and climate justice. During the last 5 years, she helped students organize across California around environmental justice issues. As a field organizer for the California Student Sustainability Coalition, she oversaw the recruitment of over 200 youth to attend one of the largest nationwide conference, PowerShift 2013, held in Pittsburgh, along with fundraising efforts. Additionally, in 2013, with a small team, she led the efforts in organizing one of the largest statewide convergences in California where youth from all over the pacific northwest gathered to create and implement solutions to address climate change. In 2012 she co-founded the Student Environmental Resource Center at UCB, and the in 2013 she co-founded Students Against Fracking. Determined to shift the current extractive economic system to a regenerative and just economic system, she co-founded the Resilience Collaborative, a strategic consultancy and innovation firm. She is actively involved with legislative advocacy in California to halt extreme oil and natural gas extraction, as well as efforts to expand US academic curriculums to include cooperative education.
