About Robert Villano

I am a licensed clinical social worker and experienced therapist. I approach my clients from a strengths based perspective with empathy and understanding. I believe that trust and support make up the foundation for a therapeutic relationship, and that these are key elements to developing a meaningful connection.I am trauma informed and familiar with many different modalities but my approach comes primarily through CBT and the IFS model. I’m keen on identifying faulty beliefs and the narratives which surround them, often times connected to shame and unresolved grief. Then reframing and coming up with new self affirming beliefs. I think that most issues concerning mental health can be traced back to needs going unmet in childhood and that it is necessary to connect with and integrate these parts in order to fully heal (commonly known as inner child work). I have prior experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Most notably, developing the clinical programming for an 80 resident inpatient rehabilitation center. This includes an evidenced based group and individual CBT track over the course of 30 days. I have worked with adolescents, adults and families to resolve trauma and restore trust.
