About Robert Young
Each client is unique and deserves the opportunity to tell his/her story so that an individualized treatment plan can be developed. While medication management is my primary focus, I view medication as a tool to provide enough stability that coping skills can facilitate recovery. To achieve this goal, I offer longer/unrushed appointments, teach mindfulness and meditation based skills, work closely with a client\'s therapist, and am available for consultation between appointments. In short, medication management is just one part of a holistic treatment approach I use for depression/anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, borderline personality, ADHD, and other struggles.Drawing on 20 years of meditation and mindfulness practice experience, I co-teach a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) class to help individuals decrease their physical pain, stress, anxiety, and/or depression. Combined with 7 years school teaching experience, I offer a unique perspective to clients 13 and older.I believe strongly in service and volunteer at the Goochland Free Clinic while also working at RBHA\'s Crisis Stabilization Unit.
