About Robert Smith

Bob Smith is presently the Vice President of Transmission Development at TransCanyon LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, the parent of Arizona Public Service Co. in Phoenix, and Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company, the parent of MidAmerican, PacifiCorp, and NV Energy. Bob has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Arizona. Bob has worked in the electric industry for Pinnacle West Capital and APS for 30 years in the areas of Transmission Development, Transmission Planning, Construction and Maintenance, and Transmission and Balancing Authority Operations. Bob has represented APS in several regional planning forums, and has been extensively involved in WECC activities including two years chairing the WECC Compliance Monitoring and Operating Practices Subcommittee.     As Vice President of Transmission Planning and Development for TransCanyon my responsibilities are to identify and evaluate potential transmission projects that TransCanyon may pursue; to lead the diligence effort in the evaluation of those potential transmission projects, to lead the commissioning and review of any technical and/or feasibility studies in support of such evaluation of potential transmission projects; to lead TransCanyon\'s efforts related to submitting competitive proposals to secure the right to develop, construct, own and operate potential transmission projects; to lead efforts to arrange for long-term operations and maintenance of transmission projects we are pursuing; and, to perform all the duties incident to the position and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to me by the Board of Managers or the President.
