Dr. Robert E. Rosenthal is Chair of the new Department of Advertising, Public Relations & Digital Media at Suffolk University in Boston. He was formerly Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism for more than 20 years. An award-winning professor of Communication, “Dr. Bob” teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of popular culture, media, political communication, advocacy, and leadership. In addition to his duties at the University, for the past 33 years Dr. Bob has been an international consultant specializing in strategic communication. In this capacity he has worked with electric, gas and telephone utilities, financial institutions, communication firms, government agencies and other organizations to develop strategic corporate communication solutions and individual communication competencies. His counsel has been sought by companies on cases ranging from multi-billion dollar natural gas pipelines and water projects to gas, electric, and telephone utility deregulation. A specialist in the field of Political Communication, Dr. Bob has been a guest on television and radio newscasts in Boston and in other markets, providing insight into Massachusetts and national politics, journalism, and media and culture. An avid skier, golfer and sports fan, he has developed innovative educational programs combining physical activities with Leadership Development.
