I assist clients with financial recovery from catastrophic events, including natural disasters. Property, business interruption, liability and fidelity insurance policies provide sources of financial recovery for private and public sector clients. I help these clients through the insurance claims process, including assisting with the preparation, presentation, documentation, and settlement of their insurance claims. Our practice includes forensic accountants, engineers, former insurance adjusters and other specialists who assist clients in the preparation of property damage, business interruption (including contingent BI), extra expense, and costs to avert claims.Public sector clients also receive federal disaster grants as a source of financial recovery following federally declared disasters. I assist grantees and subgrantees of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and recipients and subrecipients of Community Development Block Grant Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) funding with financial, oversight, and programmatic areas to both receive and retain disaster grants. Our practice includes former FEMA executives, HUD executives, and DHS and HUD OIG professionals with a strong working knowledge of the Stafford Act, relevant sections of 44 CFR for FEMA, 24 CFR for CDBG-DR, and 2 CFR part 200 (formerly A-87). We assist public sector clients with grants management, integrity monitoring, compliance reviews, risk assessments, program assessments, disaster closeout, documentation requirements, audit resolution, and appeals. I have significant experience dealing with global property insurance claims including experience throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. I frequently present to industry groups on property damage and business interruption claims, along with federal FEMA grants topics. I have also testified as an expert witness on insurance claims related cases in both domestic and international proceedings.
