Government Contracts Partner

In founding Nichols Law, I have drawn upon decades of experience – first in government, then at leading law firms - working with contractors in the defense, space, information technology, large-scale construction, public health, and international areas. My practice includes both litigation and advisory work in the areas of:+ Bid protests+ Claims+ Audits and investigations+ Cybersecurity+ Suspension and debarment actions+ Prime-sub disputes+ Contractor mergers & acquisitions+ Foreign Military Sales and Direct Commercial Sales+ Compliance counseling+ Risk mitigation techniques for contractors working overseasWhile I work with government contractors of all sizes, some of the more significant matters I have led include:1. Resolved hotly-contested construction disputes at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, achieving agency acceptance of the project and resolution of investigations by DOJ, the OIG, and Congress.2. Protested a $9.5 billion procurement for HIV and malaria vaccines globally, demonstrating that the awardee presented an extreme risk that the agency had not considered.3. Resolved tort claims arising from the incarceration of U.S. subcontractor in Cuba for espionage by negotiating a creative settlement that the agency ultimately paid.4. Represented a medium-sized contractor in growing to $3.5 billion in annual government revenue, both organically and through six different M&A transactions.5. When an agency suspended one of its largest not-for-profits and refused to relent, successfully negotiated a grand bargain to transfer all of the programs, assets, and employees to another organization and to settle the False Claims Act (FCA) investigation.I have also been honored by national and international ranking services and selected as a thought leader for industry groups and publications. For more details and publications, go to https://nichols.law/top-federal-contract-attorneys/robert-nichols/.
