Responsible for administering and providing advisory services on the Federal Employee Retirement, Group Life Insurance, Health Benefits, Thrift Savings Programs, Transit Benefits, Work/Life Benefits, Benefeds, FEDVIP, Long-Term Care, Leave Programs. Serves as the specialist on injury compensation claims and benefits issues and insurance coverage options. Resolves problems in the administration regarding these programs. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of local policies and regulations to implement these programs, briefing management and serviced organizations on the status of these programs; training employee’s and supervisors regarding the latest information; preparing communications to inform as large an audience as possible of current and future requirements and information; and serving as the policy and regulatory specialist for these programs. Plans, organizes and conducts of injury compensation seminars to include the development of a training schedule based on accident rates, organization strengths and seminar issues. Coordinates with the Department of Labor, its subdivision (Office of Workers Compensation), and other agencies and organizations in order to monitor the injury compensation program. Prepares feedback reports to management regarding injury compensation issues. Ensures that communication efforts with management and employees meet local needs. Coordinates with the HR Recruitment Staff and Rehabilitation counselors in order to place employees who can perform light duty work. Coordinates with Occupational Health Staff to ensure that medical determinations are reviewed; advises management of alternatives when medical documentation is not forthcoming from an employee. Coordinates with Resource Management Staff to evaluate costs and reduce the number of compensation costs paid by the organization.
