   I joined the team to develop an internal machine shop to fit the various business needs of the company-Machined production parts for deliverable products-Post machining on previously manufactured components-R&D prototype machining-Fixture and test equipment manufacturingMy projects have included-I have taken the lead Insourcing of various high risk machined components-I have sourced and selected equipment to increase Machine shop thruput and leverage lights out machining-I brought automation to create High Mix Low Volume manufacturing cells-I updated machines with additional capabilities including rotaries and indexers-I updated Post processors and machine configurations to take advantage of 3+1 and 3+2 machining-I Modified our post processors to directly output necessary macros to communicate with external accessories. Part of my position is identifying indirect ways for improvement. We had an abnormally high down time waiting for service on down equipment. I took the HAAS repair training course from Philips precision. This has resulted in a reduction in machine down time from the previous year. Last year we had over 120 days of downtime waiting on repair technicians that had an average 11 business day response time. Since taking the course we have handled above 95 percent in house and within 1 business day when parts are available.
