About Robert Maness
I am a Senior Managing Director at Coherent Economics, where I consult on a variety of litigation and regulatory matters, among other things. I have extensive experience in antitrust and competition issues over the course of my career, including matters involving allegations of price fixing, group boycotts, as well as allegations of anticompetitive contracting practices and anticompetitive patent settlements. I also have extensive experience in patent litigation, including calculating lost profits and reasonable royalty damages, as well as assessing commercial success. I have testified in matters in both State and Federal courts, including courts in Texas, Delaware, Virginia, and New Jersey. Industries on which I have provided consulting work include pharmaceuticals and healthcare, telecommunications, oil & gas, and transportation industries, among others. I have published research on the impact of competition within the pharmaceutical industry, including the competition to develop new and improved products. In addition, I have published on the process of innovation competition more generally. Prior to entering economic consulting, I was a staff economist at the Federal Trade Commission, where I worked on antitrust matters in a variety of industries. I have consulted on numerous mergers, providing support and analysis for presentation to the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice as part of their merger review process. As a professor in the economics department at Texas A&M University, I have taught a variety of economics courses, including financial economics, health economics, managerial economics, and microeconomics among other courses.
