About Robert Malloy
20 years of progressively responsible Information Technology experience – domestic and offshore – within the World Bank and Marsh McLennan Companies. I’m super excited about leading the new unit Library & Publishing at the WBG. We hold a strategic role in the organization because information is a development asset. In May 2020 Brookings wrote an article “What Makes the World Bank So Influential – Its Money or its Ideas?” the answer was information and they said “The World Bank enjoys outsized policy influence primarily because of its ideas (delivered through analysis, studies and advice)” and “The analytical and advisory products of the World Bank consistently influence the design, direction, and implementation of government policy in low-income and middle-income client countries.”The newly combined Library and Publishing Unit supports and advances the World Bank Group’s position as a knowledge institution by promoting a holistic, comprehensive approach to information. The project information lifecycle starts with researchers’ requests and access to valuable eResources, research and relevant events and leads to experienced publishing staff that uphold both strong editorial production, copyright, and the publishing industry’s best practices. This ends with our team effectively curating and disseminating authors research and analysis so it can be readily discovered by a vast array of stakeholders, including researchers, partners, staff and the development community in one of our repositories. It’s an end to end service we promote and are proud of.
