ABOUT ROBERT MACKIE
Experienced and flexible I am a great asset to any organisation. I am comfortable in large organisations as well as small start-up companies. With a can-do attitude, I am happy to roll my sleeves up to ensure objectives are delivered. I am also very capable, working at the strategic level helping to build teams and undertaking business change and transformation.I have managed large and small teams (Plyable, Caudwell Marine, Bladon Micro-Turbine, JLR)(up to 200+) and significant budgets (£330M). I build relationships and manage stakeholders to ensure alignment on company objectives. In the automotive world, I was the Launch Manager on multiple vehicle programmes, some running concurrently. Tenacity and determination ensured successful programme delivery shaping decisions across all levels. I worked from the concept phase (clay models and initial feasibility) all the way through to final delivery developing components and systems, verifying them through virtual as well as physical testing. Prototype and pre-production builds were successfully navigated and issues identified and resolved through structured problem solving (8D / Ishakawa / 5 Whys etc). DFMEAs and PFMEAs have always been my bedrock of Engineering ensuring deep analysis and understanding of both components and systems.Whilst at JLR I had the privilege to live in India for 5 years developing an off-shore Engineering facility to augment the UK teams. This grew from 35 Engineers in 2009 to over 1500 Engineers in 2013. I built a large number of relationships, both internal and external, to generate the demand as well as the solutions to deliver. Cost savings ranged from 50% to 35% depending upon the skill set and facilities required.I am a self-starter needing limited guidance to achieve the organisaton\'s aims. Able to engage, motivate and develop teams both internally and externally to deliver on common goals. A Royal Naval Reservist since 1992 which allows me to bring a wealth of leadership skills developed through the military into the civilian work place (mentoring, coaching, human psychology, leadership,). This is carefully balanced with the different cultures to ensure exceptional results.
