In this newly created role, I will lead the professional coaching team across the RGS Worcester Family of Schools, working closely with the Director of Sport to shape and deliver a sports programme that balances excellence, opportunity, and pupil wellbeing.Key responsibilities include:Providing day-to-day leadership and line management of the professional coaching staff.Driving coach development through mentoring, training, and professional growth opportunities.Supporting Heads of Sport in delivering a high-quality and inclusive fixture programme.Ensuring strong communication and collaboration between coaches, pupils, parents, and staff.Contributing strategically to the long-term direction of sport across the RGS community.This position offers a unique opportunity to combine leadership, coach development, and strategic planning while continuing to build on RGS Worcester’s reputation for sporting excellence and inclusivity.

ABOUT ROBERT LEWIS
A former professional rugby player with experience in the Aviva Premiership, Heineken Cup, RaboDirect PRO12, and RFU Championship, I’ve had the privilege of learning from and contributing to elite coaching environments throughout my career. These experiences have shaped my coaching philosophy—grounded in technical excellence, holistic player development, and strong team culture—and led me to my current roles in both school and club rugby.At RGS Worcester, one of the UK’s leading independent schools for sport and academic achievement, I serve as Head of Rugby, where I oversee player development, performance, and progression across all levels. I also support student welfare and leadership as an Assistant Head of Year, and lead the ADP Aspire Programme, which focuses on nurturing high-performing athletes through bespoke training and development pathways.In parallel, I am Director of Rugby at Luctonians Sports Club, where I manage on-field rugby operations, long-term player development, and coaching strategy. My focus is on building sustainable success through a performance-driven yet people-centred approach.I hold an RFU Level 3 coaching qualification and am passionate about empowering young athletes to thrive both on and off the field. I also hold a BSc (Hons) Open Degree from the Open University, with a focus on Information Technology, Business, and Sports Psychology—bringing a broad, practical perspective to leadership, performance, and athlete development.
