ABOUT ROB KORNAHRENS
Robert (Rob) Kornahrens was born in Long Island NY in 1957; he is the youngest of 4 boys. During High School he worked with a commercial roofing contractor, Triple M Roofing from Long Island. Every summer he would come back to Triple M Roofing and work on the roofs, until graduating in 1979 from the University of Arizona with a BS in Business Administration. This is where he became a rugby player. Upon graduating from the University of Arizona he had to make a decision to go into family business on long island manufacturing refueling equipment for airports or take a position with Triple M Roofing to open the new branch in Atlanta Georgia. Doing some research, he found out Atlanta had the Atlanta Renegades Rugby Club, one of the best rugby clubs in the Southeast United States, thus the decision to go to Atlanta.Rob was successful in Atlanta and the owner decides to move him to Fort Lauderdale to take over an existing operation. He was successful there as well, and in 1983 he decided to borrow $15K from his dad and buy a pick-up truck to start his own business. From that point on he focused on customer service in the commercial reroofing business, and it has grown steadily for the last 35 years. They have been in the top 10 Commercial Roofing Contractors in the United States and #1 in Florida. Today Advanced Roofing has 7 branches throughout the State of Florida and employs approximately 500 people. In 2002, he was a Founding member of Roof Connect. Roof Connect is a National Organization of Roofing Contractors Independently owned and have their own service regions. There are 120 branches nationally serving many national accounts like: Walmart, Home Depot and Dollar General, etc. Rob presently sits on the Board of Roof Connect. In 2007 he started Advanced Green Technologies as a solar distributor for a thin film solar panel, he also started his solar contracting business at the same time. Today AGT is the top commercial rooftop solar contractor in the State of Florida and recently completed two 2 Mega Watt Solar carports at Lockheed Martin (approximately 600 cars). The succession planning with Kevin and Michael is under way and they have purchased 2 roofing companies in the State of Florida to expand their geographic footprint and grow the Service, Air Conditioning, Lightening Protection, Roofing and Solar Business. Rob has positioned the company along with all his associates to have the best brand in the State.
