ABOUT ROBERT JAMES

I am a strong leader who takes a strategic approach to focus on long term success. I am driven by robust values and the need to problem solve, always looking to develop my area of responsibility, my people, and the culture to be the best that they can be. My traditional area of expertise is statistical modelling where I have many years experience leading teams across the areas of credit risk, operational risk, pension risk, stress testing, regulatory and economic capital, IFRS9, pillar 1, pillar 2a and HPI. However, I thrive on challenge and in recent years have taken myself out of my technical area of expertise to broaden my experience and leadership, exposing myself to different roles, environments and disciplines. This has included running risk reporting to the Nationwide Building Society Board and managing operational risk within the Treasury Function including responsibility for ensuring robust Fraud, Market Abuse and Anti-Money Laundering control frameworks.I have had the wonderful opportunity to build a bank and develop a credit and model risk function from the ground up, concluding in the successful acquisition of a banking license. I have worked as an associate partner at 4Most supporting clients in multiple risk related areas. Today I work in Risk Science at Lloyds Banking Group where I have responsibility for capital and impairment actuals, forecasting and stress testing.
