About Robert J. Bothwell
Executive Vice President, of Alliant’s Energy and Marine practice, Rob leads a team of dedicated specialists in providing the highest level of service and expertise to the independent power and utility sectors. Rob leverages his more than 30 years of experience and specialized expertise working with independent power producers, utilities and oil and gas companies to develop comprehensive insurance and risk management programs. The Energy and Marine Practice acts as an extension of clients’ risk, finance, operations and asset management departments, providing outsourced risk management consultation in a technical, creative and service-minded way.Rob and his team work with domestic and international markets to develop comprehensive insurance and risk management programs specifically tailored to the nuances of the energy sector. They are known industry-wide for developing creative programs for companies that have global operations and have consulted to hundreds of power projects worldwide. Under Rob\'s leadership, they have created solutions for prototypical equipment, replacement power, political risks, trade disruption, forced outage, warranty / performance guarantee and all types of general insurance. Prior to joining Alliant in 2016, Bothwell headed the Global Energy Practice at Beecher Carlson, an international insurance and risk management brokerage firm. Rob began his insurance career with the Chubb Group as a Boiler & Machinery underwriter. He spent the next four years as the Northeast Marketing Manager for the Energy Department of Zurich Insurance, where he was involved with some of North America’s largest independent power producers. In 1993, Rob joined William Gallagher Associates (WGA) to head the energy practice, and four years later participated in the management buyout becoming one of the principal partners. Rob grew WGA’s energy book on an international scale and achieved notoriety for his expertise in the independent power industry.
