Bob Gomez has 37 years of experience in Planning, Highway and Rail Design. He has led dozens of highway and rail design projects as the Design Engineer, Project Manager and Engineer of Record. His skills include the design and management of several types of projects ranging from complex highway design projects to simple two-lane resurfacing projects. He has served as Project Manager for Task Order design and plan review contracts. In addition to working as a consultant directly for the DOT, he has worked as a Project Manager on dozens of Municipal Projects overseen by the DOT staff. Over the course of his career, Bob has also been responsible for Rail Design (Track and Site/Civil Design), Traffic Control, Signalization, Illumination, and all aspects of plan development. He has developed innovative ways to track common plan review comments with the goal of reducing construction claims and changes.Bob’s experience also includes serving as Project Manager for two NEPA Studies from start to finish. He wrote the NEPA studies and led the subconsultants responsible for air, noise, environmental resources and permitting. He was responsible for the alternative alignments and the public involvement aspects for both studies. He has also led public involvement efforts on many projects with experience with in-person, virtual and hybrid public meetings. Bob Gomez has been a lifelong student of project management and methods to optimize the design and development of projects. He has authored a book called “Looking Forward to Monday” which focuses on how young engineers can exceed expectations and maximize their effectiveness in corporate America. He is also a lead trainer in OpenRoads and CAD applications for his design team. He is a hands-on Project Manager who has a deep passion for the assignments he works on.
