ABOUT ROBERT G. PIVARNIK

I am currently serving as an Associate Professor of Theology and the Director of the Honors Program at Providence College where I have been teaching since 2006. I earned tenure in 2013. I have also served in the following positions with duties as noted:Vice President of Mission and Ministry, Providence College (July 2013-August 2018)-Supervised 17 member division including regular interface with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni/Development offices-Developed and managed a budget for the division-Developed strategic plan for the division and assisted with the strategic planning process for the College as a whole-Collaborated across all divisions of the College regarding speaker policies, mission integration, inclusive excellence, and mission assessment-Served on the President\'s cabinet and advised the President in major enterprise decisionsDirector of the Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies, Providence College (July 2010-August 2018)-Developed and managed the operating budget for the Center-Planned and implemented programming for faculty development in areas related to Catholic and Dominican Studies; planned and implemented two endowed lecture series each year; and, created new programs for mission integration with faculty, staff, and students-Oversaw the maintenance, cataloguing, and development of the Center’s repository of books, periodicals, and artwork-Developed a proposal for an interdisciplinary minor program in Catholic Studies with the Office of Academic Affairs-Sought and initiated a partially-endowed faculty chair for the Center with the Office of Institutional Development I am particularly interested in Higher Education Administration, Faculty Development in Research and Writing, American Religious Experience, Religion and Public Policy, Liturgical Theology, and the Transdisciplinarity of the Modern UniversitySpecialities: Higher Education Administration, Strategic Planning, Program Development and Operation, Faculty Development, Verbal and Written Communication Skills. My scholarly interests include, but are not limited to: Sacramental and Liturgical Studies, Liturgical Music, Music Composition, African-American studies, Writers of the Modern South, Catholic Imagination, and the Role of Religion in Creating Positive Social Change
