ABOUT ROBERT ELLIOT-COOKE

I’m a specialist hepatology pharmacist and digital leader with a career dedicated to improving care for people living with liver disease. I began my career at the Royal Free Hospital, working across a range of clinical specialties including hepatology and intensive care, where I developed a strong foundation in the management of liver transplant recipients and patients with complex viral hepatitis.I have held senior pharmacy leadership roles across two Devon Trusts, where I helped shape clinical governance, medicines optimisation, and multidisciplinary practice. Alongside my clinical work, I’ve developed a career in digital transformation and now work as Chief Pharmacy Information Officer at UHP. In this role, I lead digital strategy, clinical safety, and informatics innovation, ensuring that digital systems genuinely support clinicians and improve outcomes for patients.I currently work within the South West Liver Unit as Lead Pharmacist for the South West Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network. I chair the regional viral hepatitis MDT and oversee care for patients with advanced, treatment‑resistant, or clinically complex hepatitis B, C, and D. My work includes pathway redesign, equity‑focused outreach, and the integration of digital tools to support earlier diagnosis, sustained engagement, and safer long‑term management.I have a particular interest in novel and emerging therapies across hepatology. I run a dedicated clinic for patients with Primary Biliary Cholangitis, supporting evidence‑based initiation and optimisation of disease‑modifying treatments. As a non‑medical prescriber, I also play a key role in managing complex immunosuppressive regimens in liver transplant patients, ensuring safe, personalised, and sustainable care.Across all aspects of my work, I’m driven by a commitment to high‑quality, equitable hepatology care and by the belief that thoughtful digital innovation can meaningfully improve the lives of patients and the clinicians who support them.
