ABOUT ROBERT D.
I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. I teach a range of courses across the Undergraduate and Psychology Postgraduate programmes at Manchester Metropolitan University.My research is focused on understanding the role of perceived social norms in health-related behaviours and health outcomes more broadly. My current research is focused around two key questions:1. How do perceived social norms influence health-related behaviours?(including vaccine uptake and hesitancy, suicidality, help-seeking behaviours)2. How effective and acceptable are social norms-based / Social Norms Approach interventions for promoting health behaviours and overall health?My research aims to generally understand the role of social norms (typically perceived norms of unwritten rules or expectations which guide or restrict behaviour) in health-related behaviours and outcomes, including risky and protective health behaviours, help-seeking, and suicidality. I have particular expertise in using the Social Norms Approach as a means of positive health behaviour change and in understanding health-related behaviours.
