ABOUT ROBERT DELAURO

I have designed and implemented leadership development modules, cultural competency training, communication plans, supervisory training, employee recognition programs, on-boarding initiatives, performance management tools, and labor relations programs. I have run focus groups, presented customer service training, managed state and federal training grants and provided coaching and consultation to executives, directors, managers, union leadership and union organizers. I have organized and facilitated labor-management committees in hospitals and nursing homes to improve patient care and operational processes. Working with management, union representatives and outside vendors I have facilitated successful employee and organizational transitions. Within a long-term care learning collaborative involving ten nursing facilities, I managed the distribution and collection of annual surveys for employees, residents, and residents\' families; analyzed the survey results; and reported the findings to facility staff, management and union leadership. Within the St. Vincent\'s Human Resources department I facilitated a strategic planning process. In addition, I developed system-wide communication initiatives supporting the hospital\'s strategic plans. I am interested in what motivates and inspires people to work creatively and successfully. I believe personal change is hard and organizational change is harder. But both are possible when the approach is correct and the motivation is present. I am also interested in the spiritual side of work.
