About Robert Carreau
A highly motivated, outcomes-focused, ethical leader with a passion for achieving measurable improvement in the well-being of people and communities. Robert A. Carreau has extensive experience in strategic grant making and philanthropy, having served in the charitable sector as a CEO, as a consultant to foundations and corporations, and as advisor to non-profits and NGOs. Throughout, he has maintained a laser-like focus on organizational outcomes and partnership development as core elements of his work. Through his consulting firm, Outcomes Work, LLC, Carreau helps foundations and corporations achieve results through strategic grant-making and resource investment. Previously, Carreau served as CEO of the United Way of Schenectady County, NY where he was at the forefront of the program outcomes movement. Carreau has held the position of Secretary of The Schenectady Foundation since 1992, and was appointed the Foundation’s executive director in 2010. He is a Trustee of the Carlilian Foundation. Carreau has served in numerous volunteer and leadership roles including the Community AIDS Partnership, Northeast Parent & Child Society, the Schenectady Enterprise Community and the Arts Center of the Capital Region. He was Chair of the Empire State Youth Orchestras, and served on the executive council of the Bigelow Corners Partnership in Schenectady. In 2011 Mr. Carreau helped found and lead a flood recovery coalition in response to hurricanes Irene and Lee. He was appointed to the NYRising Task Force charged with developing flood recovery and prevention programs in Schenectady County. Carreau has completed courses of study in nonprofit management with the National Academy for Voluntarism, Empire State College, The Rensselaerville Institute, and the National Center for Nonprofit Boards. Robert\'s current volunteer passion is the 8th Step folk music venue\'s Open Mic at Proctors, building a diverse and active following, engaging a variety of musical and art forms.
