About Robert C. Kennedy
Dr. Kennedy is a full-time faculty member at Full Sail University where he teaches human factors/usability and industrial psychology courses and he advises graduate students on their design projects in the Virtual Reality Lab and in the Game Production Lab. He is also a researcher and adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida Department of Psychology where he teaches Graduate Human Factors. He served for 8 years as submarine nuclear plant operator and supervisor, safety/training supervisor and finally as an instructor at the Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit. After the military he was a special risk inspector with an industrial insurance company where he evaluated plant safety, operations, and maintenance policies, procedures and compliance. He also investigated industrial safety and operational accidents and plant upsets. His interest in performance, motivation, productivity, safety compliance and prevention of injury and equipment damage led him to industrial safety and plant training and consulting. After over 15 years working in and with large industrial facilities he began formal research in a human factors psychology laboratory in Orlando, FL while also completing his PhD in Psychology. He has and continues to conduct human factors research and consulting projects both in private (industrial and entertainment/ amusement) and government agencies including the Department of Defense, NASA, NSF and NIH. He has completed experimental and other scientific research in the areas of Dynamic Visual Acuity, Driving Performance, Industrial Facility Safety, Fire Arm Safety, Visually Induced Motion Sickness, Simulator Performance and Aftereffects, Space Adaptation, Cognitive Effects of Stress, and Dismounted Soldier Performance. He completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Central Florida.
