I am a business lawyer who represents individuals and entities in complex civil litigation matters in state and federal court, with a focus on professional liability defense, business litigation, product liability, and coverage litigation. In addition, I regularly provide risk management and professional ethics advice to lawyers and law firms, including conducting law firm audits to ensure compliance with best practices and representing lawyers in bar disciplinary proceedings. My litigation clients operate in many industries and include law and accounting firms, insurance and real estate brokerages, engineering firms, insurance companies, drug and medical device manufacturers, and privately held businesses. I take a pragmatic and wholistic approach to my matters, with an emphasis on developing litigation strategies that are tailored to my client’s individual needs and business objectives and that position my matters for success all the way from presuit negotiations through appeal. I regularly handle claims of professional malpractice, breach of contract, unfair and deceptive trade practices, bad faith, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, aiding and abetting, civil conspiracy, fraud, negligence and wrongful death. Previously, I counseled governments and quasi-public authorities on issuing tax-exempt and taxable debt, as well as institutional investors and indentured trustees in workouts and restructurings. I consistently draw on my prior corporate practice when representing my clients in litigation and consulting matters, drawing on my knowledge of complex contractual arrangements and business structures to inform my evaluation of litigation strategy and risk management.Prior to entering the legal profession, I served as assistant senate clerk of the New Hampshire State Senate and worked as deputy director of a New Hampshire political action committee. My knowledge of state and local government and legislative process gives me a unique understanding of how business and government operate to shape law and policy, which I draw on regularly in my litigation and risk management practice.
