   I grew up in Baltimore and stayed to earn a Math degree and MBA from Johns Hopkins University while I climbed the corporate ladder in a growing entrepreneurial company that taught me about business and business-related activity from an intrapreneurial perspective, and where I ultimately became CFO; I worked for a French owned company as controller/business manager for a site that was transitioning from R&D to manufacturing, and that took me to Paris on several occasions; I opened and for eight and a half years operated my own 90-seat upscale-casual restaurant in a very special community outside of Baltimore serving 6k guests a month three meals a day and catering; I sold residential real estate for fun over a span of eight years as a hobby; I taught entrepreneurship and algebra at the college level for eight years as an adjunct; I branded a Historic Hotels of America urban castle in Mount Vernon, my favorite Baltimore neighborhood because of its rich arts and culture; I managed two branded hotels, one of which was a Hilton Curio; and I raised four amazing human beings while doing all of these things post Hopkins. It’s been a phenomenal ride so far. Today I run a beachfront hotel in Santa Barbara, California. Hotel Milo is a 121-room boutique, part of the Independent Collection of Hotels. I’m overwhelmed with excitement mixed with nostalgia. Surreal. Lots of excitement like when I started Open Door Café and when I came to Hotel Brexton in Baltimore. I didn’t know a lot of people in either case, but they were both in my backyard.
