About Robert Bertin
Rob has a long track record of helping corporate founders, boards, private equity, and businesses ranging from trillion-dollar corporations to pre-revenue entities successfully navigate intellectual property (IP) issues and other legal risks and opportunities. His experience includes negotiating impactful IP and commercial agreements in transactional and M&A settings, leading IP litigation, counseling on building and managing IP portfolios, conducting due diligence, and advising on IP, technology, media, data and other issues regularly confronted by fast growing companies. Across his career, Rob has represented and advised over 100 technology companies, with the majority in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors, and the remaining in diverse sectors including software, cyber security, privacy, AI, semiconductors, optical components, automotive, EVs, gaming, medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceutical, bio, vaccines, real estate, insurance, renewable energy, sports and federal contracting. Rob is a past chair of the patent, trademark and copyright section of the Bar Association of DC and has been active on corporate boards, including: Virginia Tech Intellectual Properties (VTIP), Director Northern Virginia Science Center, Director and Governance Chair Pixelligent, LLC, Advisory Board Rob has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation by his peers and recognized by Super Lawyers for IP in Washington, DC (2013 – 2018). Rob began his career as an engineer at IBM’s Federal Systems Division, where he designed radiation hardened semiconductor chips for satellites. He has been awarded two US Patents for his work at IBM.
