About Robert Benisch
As a graduate student researcher at the University of Michigan, I am pursuing a PhD in Chemical Biology, focusing on bacterial protein compartments and their role in nutrient storage and metabolism. I have established and led three projects in a newly opened laboratory, using a combination of enzymology, biophysics, and structural biology techniques to propose a new paradigm in the field.I have also gained valuable experience in the biotech sector, through internships at Huue Inc. and Surrozen Inc, where I applied my skills to improve enzymes in indigo production, and for drug development, respectively. I have developed assays, protocols, screening strategies for biomanufacturing and drug discovery. I have authored and co-authored 4 publications based on my work. I am looking for a new role that will allow me to leverage my protein biochemistry expertise, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to innovative solutions for global challenges.
