ABOUT ROBERT BATEY
Organic synthesis targetting complex small molecules, including pharmaceutically relevant compounds, natural products, alkaloids, cyclic depsipeptides, and peptides. Discovery and development of synthetic methods and tactics, new chemical reactions, and reagents (macrocyclizations, organoboron, heterocycles, pericyclic reactions). In medicinal chemistry discovery / chemical biology we are working on protein degradation strategies, particularly the development of small molecules targetting ClpP protease and chimeric molecules targetting the E1/E2/E3 ligase / proteasome pathway (e.g, PROTACs).Consultant in the area of drug discovery and organic synthesis, including medicinal and process chemistry for biotech, pharma, and contract research companies. Experience with evaluation and defense of patents. Senior university administrative experience as Department of Chemistry Chair (current) and Associate Chair, Undergrad Studies.
