About Robbi Nester
I am a retired college educator with many years of experience and a writer who has been publishing my poetry, reviews, and essays widely in journals and anthologies. I have 4 books of poetry, including a chapbook, Balance (White Violet, 202) and three full collections. These are A Likely Story (Moon Tide, 2014), Other-Wise (Kelsey, 2017) and Narrow Bridge, 2014). I have also edited three anthologies of poetry, including The Liberal Media Made Me Do It!(Nine Toes, 2014), Over the Moon: Birds, Beasts, and Trees (published as a special issue of Poemeleon Journal in 2017), and The Plague Papers, which celebrates online museum collections. It was also published as a special issue of Poemeleon Journal and is available to read for free there, at I am mostly retired from teaching, and focusing on my writing, but volunteer as a host and curator of two online poetry reading series-The Spoken Word Club of Laguna Woods and Verse Virtual Monthly Poetry Reading and Open Mic. In addition, I periodically write reviews, mostly on poetry books, for Rhino and several other literary magazines. Learn more about me at my website,
Experience
Tutor, Writer, Editor
Oct 2012 — Present · CA
Freelance tutoring of middle school through professional school students and adults; editing, and writing. I apply my experience as a college educator to assess the needs of a student and address them in very short order. For example, in a single session, I recently assisted a student in analysis of assignment, research techniques, and development of a thesis and plan.
