ABOUT ROB BASTIN
With over 15 years of experience in leading education, I am currently the Director of SCITT, Hub Lead and Lead Teacher of Physics at NMAP SCITT, based at Dulwich College. I lead the recruitment, placement, and training of trainee teachers, developing and delivering weekly whole day training sessions in professional studies and science subject knowledge and pedagogy. I also manage a team of three assessors and an administrator, along with mentors at each placement school, providing training and support in each of these roles through regular contact and building relationships, proactively building partnerships with local schools.I hold a PhD in Physics from UCL, a PGDip in Digital Education from The University of Edinburgh, and an NPQLTD (National Professional Qualification for Leading Teacher Development) from TDT and NASBTT. I have a strong background and expertise in astrophysics, educational technology, and curriculum development. I have also played an active role on the national assessment and curriculum boards to oversee the awarding of qualified teacher status (QTS) and plan the curriculum development. In addition, I led the national roll out of the Engineers Teach Physics Pilot, providing a new targeted pathway for career changers from engineering backgrounds into physics teaching. My mission is to inspire and empower the next generation of teachers and students with the best practices and resources in the field.
