ABOUT ROB S.
I’ve been a sound engineer for over 39 years, specialising in musical theatre sound design and mixing. I’m currently Head of Sound on Alice in Wonderland at The Riverside Studios. Most recently, I was Head of Sound for Jesus Christ Superstar which won Broadway World\'s *Best Sound Design* and Piaf at The Watermill Theatre and for the Olivier Nominated *Oedipus* at The Old Vic, working with a great team to create an immersive and engaging experience for the audience. I\'ve worked alongside award-winning sound designers such as Chris Shutt, John Leonard, Gareth Owen, Mick Potter, Tony Gayle, John Shivers, Andrew Bruce, Bobby Aitken, Gareth Fry, Mike Walker, Andrew Johnson, Tom Marshall, Richard Brooker, Nick Lodge, Ben Grant, Ella Wahlström, Andrea J Cox, and Chris Whybrow. I have extensive experience with DiGiCo and similar mixing desks, as well as QLab and MainStage. I’m also confident in leading a team through shows and load-ins/outs, with strong people management and communication skills. My fault-finding abilities are well-honed, allowing me to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly in the fast-paced world of live theatre. Beyond mixing, I’m passionate about teaching and coaching aspiring sound engineers and stage managers. As a Musical Mixing Tutor, I provide hands-on instruction and practical guidance to help the next generation build their skills and confidence. I’m always looking for new challenges, new tech, and opportunities to collaborate with other professionals who share my commitment to high-quality sound.
