ABOUT ROB THOMPSON FCICM

I am a Partner in the Collections and Recoveries team at Brachers LLP, with 35 years\' experience in all aspects of debt collection and recovery within a Solicitors office, including defended actions, appeals and publicity sensitive matters. Since 2007 I have been managing a successful and growing Collections and Recoveries team, comprising telephone collectors, paralegals and lawyers.In recent years, the team has recently been going from strength to strength, growing quickly with excellent results, as well as winning and being shortlisted for a number of national awards.Most recently in 2025, Brachers was Highly Commended in the Legal Services Provider category at the British Credit Awards, as well as being a finalist in the Debt Collection Agency category. From 2015 to 2025, I was a visiting lecturer on Debt Recovery at the University of Law.For many years I served as an officer within the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA), including being annually elected as Chair from 2020 to 2025 and previously Vice Chair from 2015 to 2020. I stepped down as an Officer in 2025, having served the maximum permitted terms in both of those roles.In December 2023 I was humbled and honoured to be granted Honorary Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM).Specialties: Management of a modern and efficient Collections & Recoveries team, Consumer Credit Act disputes, defended legal actions, appeals, publicity sensitive matters, compliance, training and all aspects of team management.
