About Rob Swales

Born and raised in Clearfield, PA, I returned to my hometown to make a difference shortly after graduation from the University of Pittsburgh – Bradford Campus with a major in Economics and a Minor in Business Management in I worked part time and immediately entered Northwest Bank’s management training program during my senior year of college before making the switch to my passion for economic development. I began working for the Clearfield County Government under the Department of Planning and Economic Development (DPED) in the fall of I worked for the DPED prior to privatization and revamping the organization in 2004, whereby the lead economic roles are administered under the Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation, a private nonprofit corporation doing business as Clearly Ahead Development. Some of the most notable recruitment efforts in recent years include, WhiteWave Foods, Inc, Continental Carbonic Products, Forum Energy Technologies, Pennsylvania Grain Products, Baker Hughes, Cameron, Carrizo Oil & Gas, HydroSpray Wash Systems, Makin Metals, and Dented Keg Brewing Company. Successful Brownfield projects include: 26.5-acre Howe’s Leather Tannery in Curwensville, former Dubois Brewing Company in the City of Dubois, Downtown Clearfield Riverfront in Clearfield, Rumbarger Reservoir in the City of Dubois, FCI Electronics Facility in Clearfield, and the high-profile transformation of the Harbison-Walker Brick Refractory and Clearfield Tannery into a 55-acre Technology Park – now home to one of the largest ethanol & grain processing plants in the nation. Clearly Ahead Development provides resources for local manufactures to grow their operations, business recruitment, and financial packaging for capital projects. Clearly Ahead specializes in redevelopment projects such as Brownfields, industrial park development, and commercial/industrial multi-tenant management throughout Clearfield County, PA.
