So, where did “Ring Reliable Rob” come from?I love to say I had a vision and brought it to life like some kind of Guru, but the truth is that didn’t set out for alphatech to become recognised as Teesside’s reliable IT support partner for business. Here’s how it happened. This might come as a surprise; it was to me.Over 20 years ago, I just a spotty kid who just wanted my own boss, but looking back over all of those years I can see how some of the basic ideas back then have been critical to developing such a good business reputation on Teesside.The truth is that I’m unemployable. I don’t enjoy commitment but that’s turned out to be one of my secrets to success. Somehow, I recognised that when it’s easy for people to leave a partnership, they tend to work harder to keep each other happy. Once people are “tied together” in a contract it’s oh so easy to start to take each other for granted as the relationship begins to dissolve.This is why I have never asked a customer to sign a long-term contract. I want you to be free to leave but so happy you choose to stay.Again, and again in business I hear about people pulling their hair out because they’ve been sold by a “honey-tongued” salesperson, and now they’re tied into a long-term contract with a support partner who isn’t even answering the phone.Have you ever been hanging on the telephone while your IT goes into meltdown?We don’t employ salespeople, and we only have rolling 30-day contracts – we make it easy for people to leave then work hard to keep them so happy they choose to stay.And we answer the phone within 3 rings.Most people don’t give a fig about IT.
