ABOUT ROB PARTRIDGE

I am a Design Director at AKTII. With offices in London, Manchester, Cambridge Copenhagen, and Toronto we have design-led focus on an international scale. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading designers across a variety of scales, sectors and typologies, developing my own unique sense of the definition of ‘design-led’. I believe great design is a function of inquisitiveness and the confidence to experiment, but with the dedicated professionalism to evolve innovation into reality. Embracing technology and the gathering and interpreting of data requires ambition as well as control, such that we can continue to champion research across many themes.Notable examples of this research-based focus include one of the world’s largest timber roofs at Oslo Airport; the 45-storey prefabricated Highpoint tower; our new home, the White Collar Factory; and the Francis Crick Institute, the largest biomedical facility in Europe.Building on my academic foundation in Architectural Engineering, for which I achieved a Masters Degree with Distinction, I have always had a passion for an integrated design approach. This is borne out of a genuine curiosity for the role that my particular specialism of engineering can play in shaping the built environment.Keen to advocate the imperative of academia and research, I maintain an active involvement teaching at various architectural schools and am regularly involved in industry forums, from my position on the BCO Research Committee to part of the AJ100 judging to active involvement with the NLA.
