About Rob F.

Who am I? At the core, I am a person who enjoys a challenge and the thrill of something different. This describes many great emergency physicians. However, as with anything in life, it is the fibers of experience wrapped around that core that makes me a unique and valuable person. I have practiced emergency medicine at large trauma centers and small rural emergency departments. To me, there is nothing better than caring for the sickest patients. I love trauma and complex medical cases that make you think. I follow my personal metrics (patients per hour, RVUs per patient, patient satisfaction scores) voraciously to make sure I am providing the quality of care I expect of myself. This same passion for metrics and providing the absolute best care possible has been used in my administrative experience as well. I have provided medical direction for EMS agencies and worked with them to improve system issues as well as individual providers. As an emergency department medical director, I held our department to the highest standard and we achieved those goals. Our operational key performance indicators are all within national benchmark range including an average door to provider time of 23 minutes. My leadership style is hands on, instructive not punitive, and driven. Because of my passion for high quality patient care, I have gravitated to risk management and quality assurance. I have learned a tremendous amount reviewing cases, meeting with providers, and assessing systems. After taking care of sick patients, learning and helping others to learn is my passion.I am always looking for that next experience or situation to add a layer to that core of excitement and challenge seeking.
