In the role of Chief Technology Officer, I am the leader of Long Beach City College’s District information systems and technology resources, including a staff of over 50 technology professionals and an annual budget of over $10M.Key Areas of Responsibility: Provide leadership and strategic planning for LBCC’s information systems and technology resources, while overseeing the operations and implementation of IT related projects. Participate in District-wide budgetary planning, including the management of a $60M+ IT bond plan and over $5M in salaries. Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures District-wide computing activities. Champion and oversee the development and implementation of innovative technology solutions that support LBCC’s mission. Lead the development of LBCC’s District Information Technology Plan to support the college’s Strategic Plan. Direct the planning, organization, and coordination or information systems and technologies that support instructional, student services, and administrative programs. Develop proposals for providing new or enhanced technology services for administrative, instructional, and student services. Provide responsive advice, counsel, and education to administrators, faculty, and staff on technology issues and trends.Key Achievements: Championed and secured funding for major infrastructure initiatives including the upgrade of LBCC’s 1,750+ phone system and transition from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams, the upgrade of 650+ video surveillance cameras, the implementation of a District-wide emergency notification system, and the upgrade of 500+ wireless access points and controllers. Lead the design and development of LBCC’s technology solution to support the safe reopening and return to campus, while adhering to LBCC’s mandated COVID-19 vaccination and testing policy.
