ABOUT RACHEL LEONG

I am a fifth year student at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo majoring in architecture and minoring in sustainable environments. In my final thesis year, I am researching the malleability of spatial elements within the urban realm and how they can influence performances and interactions. I am the president of FITS (Fashion, Innovation, Trendsetting, and Styling), and we aim to provide professional and physical skills in fashion and related topics in an inclusive and social environment. Some of the events that we hold are a Career Panel, hand and machine sewing workshops, open-call photoshoots, themed socials, collaborations with cultural clubs and music organizations, and an annual fashion show. This year\'s fashion show will include an immersive set that ties into the theme, Symbiosis: Technology, Nature, and Art and will showcase student designers and models. During winter and spring quarter, I will lead the Set Design and Construction team and create a collection as a fashion designer. I recently finished my study abroad education in Copenhagen, where I had the opportunity to study furniture design, urban design, textile design, Scandinavian architecture, and visual communication. During my four years of undergraduate education, I have furthered my technical skills in Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Lumion, WindowsOS, Google Suite, and teams. My physical skills include furniture making, model making, model making, metal working, wood working, laser cutting. I have explored the tactile 3D world through fashion design and sewing and I have been Design Director of Fashion and Student Trends club at SLO from 20••••23. In my previous intern experiences at Lendlease Construction and Danielian Associates, I have learned from and worked closely with professionals in the construction, development, architecture, planning, and marketing industries.
