ABOUT RAYMOND MILES

I\'m Raymond Miles, and my mission is to alleviate mass incarceration\'s psychosocial and socioeconomic consequences. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a fair chance at redemption and a brighter future, and I\'m dedicated to creating collaborations and driving policies that make this belief a reality. My journey has taken me through diverse experiences, all of which have shaped my passion for reentry and rehabilitation. I\'ve been privileged to work alongside esteemed organizations and institutions, including the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Allegheny Department of Human Services, Allegheny County Jail Collaborative, the City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority, Community College of Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh, and the Urban League. Together, we\'ve scrutinized policies and procedures that have historically excluded a disproportionate segment of our population from the opportunities they deserve. I am the Allegheny County Jail Reentry Services Workforce Development Coordinator. In this role, I provide invaluable pre- and post-release assistance to individuals striving to achieve their employment and educational goals. My career began as a Peer Support Specialist with the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System, where I laid the foundation for my role as a mental health professional. I\'ve facilitated over 350 cognitive behavioral therapy groups within the criminal justice system, and I authored \"1440\" in 2015, an emergency resource guide distributed to the forensic population and providers in Allegheny County. My academic journey led me to graduate cum laude with a Bachelor of Social Work from Carlow University\'s School of Leadership & Social Change. During this time, I was introduced to the transformative power of Workforce Development. Through my experiences and observations, I realized that most employers lack the necessary flexibility and support systems for individuals with a history of involvement with the criminal justice system. This insight ignited my passion for creating a more inclusive environment that reduces joblessness and unemployment among returning citizens. As you explore my work and its impact on individuals and communities, I invite you to join me in this journey of empowerment and transformation. Together, we can break down barriers, unlock potential, and create a more equitable and just society. Thank you for being a part of this critical mission
