A Controller monitors and controls the flow of products across the system and ensures that related tasks and activities are completed safely while maintaining system integrity. Controllers apply operations philosophies and tools in the execution of their daily activities so that a standard method of operating is applied and processes are used consistently. Controllers interact on a daily basis with other employees inside and outside the department, other pipeline company employees and customers. Such interactions are expected to be professional, focused and constructive, so that information is clearly understood and recorded accurately. Employees in this role are expected to maintain full awareness and focus on every aspect of the work environment including equipment on their desks, the dynamics of the product flowing through the pipeline, actions required of those they work with in the field and any other factors that have the potential to affect the safe delivery of product. Controllers work on rotating 12-hour shifts every day of the year and are expected to be available for a variety of shifts. The nature of the work requires availability for overtime.Some responsibilities include:Operate the station\'s pumping units. Monitor and receive the shipping schedules. Receive and distribute shipper products. Establish tank inventories and check for available room. Perform quality checks and appropriate testing. Monitor the pipeline\'s operating parameters. Monitor equipment and pipeline for abnormal conditions. Assist in the response to a pipeline incident or any other emergency. Communicate with shippers, connecting carriers, and MIPC (Monroe Interstate Pipeline Company) personnel on matters concerning start-up, shut-downs, product handling, or any activities that could affect their operations. Communicate with Trainer Refinery to ensure the products that are to be received comply with MIPC specifications (Quality Assurance Program). Implement delivery schedules.
