ABOUT RJ CLIFFORD

RJ Clifford has almost two decades of experience working in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and has been a mainstay of fight programming on SiriusXM since the first MMA show on its airwaves back in 2010. He currently hosts MMA Today with UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith and UFC veteran Din Thomas. He works in a variety of capacities at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in live production including stage manager, mix zone producer, segment producer and an on camera contributor for the UFC WEIGH-IN SHOW. He was a regular member of TUF TALK on FS1, the late-night companion show to the UFC reality series THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER. Airing Wednesdays, TUF TALK recaps the evening’s episode of THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER and includes interviews with cast members. From 2014 to 2018, RJ served as the head writer for FOX Sports’ UFC programming, including UFC TONIGHT, and UFC FIGHT NIGHTS. In his role, he’s worked directly with the FOX UFC hosts and analysts on scripts and research. He began as a journalist in 2006 at nationally distributed industry leader TapouT Magazine, writing features, editing, designing and guiding the editorial direction of the magazine. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of TapouT Magazine from 20••••10 and its sister magazine MMA Worldwide. His work as a freelance writer from 20••••14 could be found in all of the industry’s leading outlets including UFC Magazine, Fight! Magazine, Sherdog.com and ESPN.com. RJ is a retired Mixed Martial Arts fighter who fought professionally in promotions such as STRIKEFORCE and RFA. He holds a record of 4 wins and 3 losses, with three of his four victories coming by way of technical knockout (TKO) Clifford grew up in Huntington Beach, CA where he attended Marina High School as a varsity wrestler. In his senior year, he qualified for the state championships and earned Orange County All-Star status. He continued wrestling at Goldenwest Community College where he served as team captain and earned All-American honors in 2002. He attended San Francisco State University, majored in history and wrestled on the school’s varsity team. He currently lives in Huntington Beach, CA with his wife Vickie, daughter Frankie and their very loud dogs, Bulldozer and Bruce.
