Hi! I’m Riya Dhami — a curious, practical, and impact-driven student pursuing my degree in Economics with a minor in Business (Finance) at San José State University (Go Spartans!). I currently serve as the Controller and Director of Business Affairs for Associated Students, where I help lead financial strategy and budgeting for over $10 million in student funds. From supporting student organizations to shaping policy decisions, this role has given me a deep appreciation for clear communication, responsible finance, and building systems that serve real needs. My passion for financial analysis and operational strategy grew even further during my internship at BK Silk Mills, where I worked closely with the finance team to streamline procurement, prepare financial reports, and develop insights that informed decision-making. It was a hands-on experience that showed me how numbers can drive both structure and impact when used intentionally. I’m especially interested in how finance can be used not just to track outcomes, but to shape them — through data, collaboration, and thoughtful planning. I love solving problems, asking questions, and contributing to work that balances efficiency with purpose. When I’m not analyzing reports or running budget meetings, you’ll probably find me working on an econometrics project, catching up with friends, or getting lost in a playlist.
