River Steenson is a Senior Vice President, Subcontractor Default Insurance Leader within NFP\'s Construction & Infrastructure group. River joined NFP in July 2023 to provide SDI brokering services for large and middle market general contractor firms throughout North America. He draws upon his ample experience in the construction field to identify and mitigate default risk exposures and help customers implement best practices to reduce their total exposure and cost of risk. River’s demonstrated construction experience with a range of contractors - of varying size and market sector focus - provides valuable insight for his customers.River\'s professional experience spans over two decades, all working within the Construction and Insurance sectors. Prior to this River spent seven years working as Risk Engineering Team Leader for the SDI team of the largest SDI insurer, AXA XL, in the marketplace, as well as more recently also acting as Construction Data & Analytics Manger for all Risk Engineering. Prior to entering the insurance industry, River worked in a number of roles that have developed well-rounded construction expertise in various market sectors and delivery methods, including:• Fortis Construction in the Portland, OR market – Project manager on projects ranging from tenant improvements to governmental. • BNBuilders in the Seattle, WA market - Project manager and project engineer on K-12, higher education, tenant improvements, biotech, and others projects. • Kiewit Infrastructure West Company in Hawaii - Project engineer on a variety of projects that were primarily heavy-civil in nature where he gained experience in heavy equipment, drilling & blasting, and mining operations. River is a graduate of Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Management, with a minor in Business Administration.

   As SVP, SDI Leader within NFP’s Construction & Infrastructure Group – River is responsible for brokering subcontractor default insurance programs for large and middle market general contractors across North America. He will provide leadership to both new and existing SDI buyers, having seen and implemented many best practices within GC\'s operational and prequalification processes. He also brings extensive claims experience and will act as an advocate to the general contractor to help lead them through the claims process. His knowledge of the SDI policy and form is thorough, in addition to having worked with many former colleagues who are now working at most of the SDI insurance carriers in the marketplace.
