About Ritchard Shadian

Time is too precious to waste on a lousy user interface. I’ve been driven by that motto throughout my journey as a user experience designer/product designer. I made the leap from programmer to user experience design professional because I saw how software was out of touch with user needs. I wanted to explore the human element of human-computer interaction and meaningfully impact lives by making software easy and efficient, giving people their time back, removing a source of stress and anxiety. I’ve done just that across multiple industries, domains, and platforms. Whether it was application development tools, corporate design systems, business collaboration tools, scientific and industrial software for oil & gas, or data management applications, I’ve been a passionate and tenacious user advocate. I’ve collaborated with product owners, user experience designers, UX researchers, and developers to guide enterprise software on the journey from concept to launch 20 times over. I’ve successfully and consistently produced user-friendly solutions by defining user experience strategy, collecting requirements, and crafting elegant, simple, practical UX/UI designs using storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. In my capacity as a user experience manager, I’ve inspired junior designers to do their best and be their best for the task at hand and for their entire UX careers. I’ve designed the user experience for products on desktop, mobile, and web platforms, with an emphasis on SaaS and cloud. I’ve transformed solutions in the information technology industry at Oracle and the oil & gas industry at Halliburton. I love demystifying seemingly complex software problems and breaking them down into simple user interface solutions that eliminate frustration, improve efficiency, and invoke delight. My programming background gives me a special ability to see eye to eye with engineers on a technical level and a knack for finding the right middle ground between user expectations and real-world constraints.I am seeking new opportunities to make an immediate impact on organizations large and small in any industry or domain.
